Obsession leads to downfall?
I used to be very obsessed with three days grace. My family kept advizing me not to obsess over one thing for too long. I kept listening to Three Days Grace nonstop and eventually crossed the line. Then everything after that went downhill and now im just a fan of three days grace. nothing more or nothing less. Do you guys think it was good for me to obsess? Or does an obession eventually lead you to a downfall as a fan?

Well captain ( my cat) keeps attacking my screen
@iluvgoneforever- lol ur so random
yup...stupid cat you're never gonna catch my computer screen lol
ya same... my obsession with tdg has made me a better person
hmmm i obsess easily but Three Days Grace and W.i.t.c.h. (Sue me for watching a show for 7 yr. olds) haven't affected me negatively i think they've actually helped me
To me, its a good thing to be obsessed with something. It reminds me that I'm human, and like other humans, I am obsessed with things. For me, this thing is three days grace
I listen mostly to 3DG, just cause all their songs has such a great meaning.
And just to listen to it, it really helps to get through times when I feel bad, just feels great to hear a band playing everything you want to say but you don't dare to. It really helps to know someone out there does understand you.
Just some minute ago I saw some vid on youtube from them saying talking is the key and stuff, video really made me smile, just awesome to know someone understand you.
For some people it may end negatively, but for some, being obsessed can be just fine. I guess it just depends on how each person handles obsession. It varies for each person.
For me,I don't usually really go through phases of loving a song or band immensely, then disliking them afterwards. There may be some songs that I'll like to an extent, but if it's a song or a band that I truly love,I rarely ever get tired of them. Like,I'd say I have a few bands that are my head obsessions/favorites (your choice of which
),which I can listen to basically all the time, and not get tired of. Take for example,I've loved Linkin Park for 4 years now,and even though I've gained many more band loves in that time,I still love their music immensely. Or Breaking Benjamin, who was my second band love after finding Linkin Park ; I've listened to them dedicatedly for about 2 years now, still going strong.
Same goes for TDG,even though it's been a tad smaller amount of time that I've truly loved them. If it's a band that I truly love, and that means a lot to me,I can be obsessed and do just fine. I might have some days where I focus on one band, and another on another day,but generally,I can obsess over those top few each day,and be fine. And by obsess,I'm not the stalker-type of obsessed. XD I mean,I listen to them daily, love them very much, relate to the music, and most of the bands have helped me meet many friends. In short,I think I can be obsessed, but keep it at a manageable level and be fine.
I may be obsessed, but my mom dosen't care.
She likes Never Too Late,
Pain,
Animal I Have Become,
and probably It's All Over.
I'm not obsessed..I just love them. They're my favorite
Amy, if your mother scolds you and tells you to listen to something different,
all you need to do is:
That's all you've gotta do to Get Out Alive.
(Sorry if my last words turned out to be a lame joke...)
They're absolutely the best band ever. so no you didn't do anything wrong. Three Days Grace 4 life !!
Three Days Grace is just about the only thing I listen to anymore and it is kind of constant, and 90% of the songs I can sing and play on guitar are 3DG songs... and personally, I'm proud of it, it's nothing to worry about.
I don't think obsession ALWAYS leads to downfall. Then again, I don't consider myself obsessed. However, they have been my favorite band since 2004. I listen to them a lot but not everyday. What has me hooked to them is the fact that their music (although I don't always relate to it) has meaning, actual meaning and they seem like down to earth guys and they really appreciate their fans. They know that they wouldn't be where they are if it wasn't for us fans and they don't take anything for granted. They actually take the time out to meet their fans too. You don't find most bands like that these days. I have been obsessed with some bands in the past and now I just don't care for them or like you said, just a fan. For Three Days Grace, it's different though.
@ carly
i agree with you. They will always be an awesome band even if im not a really big fan anymore
@ carly
you are right about that and i agree with you
I was obsessed... now I'm like you. A fan. But I will always enjoy listening to them as well as respecting and thanking them because they were my first love; they opened my eyes to music...they let me inside when no one else would. I may not be obsessed anymore, (my new obsession is Seether
), but they will always have a special place in my heart and will always be on my mind.
@amy_2387 tell your parents I said, "they can do what they want, but that's not going to stop you from listening to Three Days Grace and having you private account." I know, that was a long sentence, but other than that, tell your parents I said that. I usually listen to Three Days Grace via my MP3 player.
this is all I have to say...
i am three days grace "maniac"(not bad way)from the first song i listen by them
until now i have never get bored
so being obsessed is not bad thing(for me it is not)
and i am sure that now that you started get in to the site you will be again obsessed
