In this life, I’ve been beaten, hurt, and broken down.
So many thoughts of running, of escaping this hell.
I’ve written, drawn, and spoken of my hectic life.
I’ve been emotionally and physically abused by my so called mother.
A short depression is what I went through.
One day I just had to realize,
That I prayed for bravery,
That I prayed for patience,
That I prayed to be happy.
And God gave me every single one of those opportunities
But I was just letting them pass by.
I had to do something,
I had to get away.
I made the simple decision to live with Dad.
That monster black-mailed me,
Telling me I couldn’t go live with my father.
For a while I put up with it for a bit more.
Planning,
Planning to give her a taste of her own medicine.
2 years ago, she and I had an argument,
When I told her she wasn’t my mother,
She gave in, this time hurt.
I have gotten the bravery I prayed for.
Still, I couldn’t go live with Dad,
But when summer came by,
I outsmarted her.
I packed everything she allowed me to, and came to visit.
When the time came to go home,
I wouldn’t.
I would not be able to go back to hell.
We fought and we fought.
We finally won the case.
I had gotten the patience I had prayed for.
Those 2 years have passed.
I am moving into the 6th grade,
And am happy as can be.
I have a wonderful stepmother I now call my biological mother instead.
I’m living a good life, and I’m enjoying it as well.
The 9 years of hell I went through taught me one thing;
To appreciate what the Lord has given me.
I have gotten the happiness I had prayed for.

Hello
I believe that the best poems are those that have meaning to us. The ones that are about the things we have experienced and learned. The things that pain us and make us happy. This is a wonderful poem. I think you are an excellent writer, and I am very sorry for the pain that you endured.
But more than that, I agree wholeheartedly that we are given a chance to be brave, not bravery itself. That everything happens for a reason and we are never given more than we can handle. Pain is never welcome, but through the suffering emerge the greatest souls. The most beautiful characters are seared with scars, inside and out. I only say this having seen it happen.

oh god
this is a poem about my life... this story is as true and true can be
one question.. if you pray for something like bravery, does God give you bravery, or does he give you an OPPORTUNITY TO BE brave? i found that out on my own
