*sigh* Hey. I'm back. I'm gonna tell you about my little adventures...lol...
Formations, formations, formations. At 5 am, at 8 am, at 12 noon, at 3 pm, at 5 pm, at 6 pm, and at 8 pm. Physical training at 5 am, including stretches, pushups, situps, jumping jacks, and a mile run - in formation and in step! (It about killed me... ) Military food for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and you HAD to eat SOMETHING. No-s***-or-mouth drill sergeants and barrack chaperones. 90+ degree weather and long sleeve ACU uniforms, and we couldn't take off the jacket or hat. A ten pound canteen of water strapped to a belt on your waist. *faints*
The activities were great though. We did a lot of obstacle courses and the like, which I enjoyed. We went out in the woods one day, using nothing but a compass to find our way through a square-mile of land. It was pretty nice, because me and one of my cadets were the only two who knew how to do it, and we were basically in charge.
But you're gonna love the stories from Wednesday night. OMG, it was hell on earth. Everything that COULD go wrong, DID go wrong:
Three asthma attacks at one time. Pranks pulled in the barracks. Tension between companies brewed into in-your-face-shouting competitions. And the best one yet...there was a fight in MY platoon, in MY BARRACK (building)!!!
I was made Platoon leader in Alpha company for three days, and on the first night, two of my girls came too damn close to tying up. Chancii's grandmother had died that morning, and Dominique was making jokes about it. Chancii finally went off on us and started shouting, crying, screaming, and cussing us out. We managed to get Chancii out, but not before Dominique saw and heard Chancii's challenge for a fight. As soon as the door closed, Dominique went beserk. *GASP*
Dominique rushed the door, but one of my cadets got in her way, trying to talk her out of it. Dominique ran over her. A second cadet moved in and tried to grab Dominique. Dominique threw her across a bed, away from her. I finally darted and got behind Dominique, put her in a headlock and picked her up off her feet, swinging her away from the door. Of course, it was a bad move; I'd forgotten to shield myself in the struggle. Dominique thrashed, kicked, and screamed, finally bringing her elbow up and busting me in the face. *GASP*
I let her go in my moment of being stunned. I felt blood pooling in my mouth, and when I parted my lips and inserted fingers to check the damage, blood spilled onto my lips and chin and ran down my fingers. She'd split my whole upper lip on the right side. I ignored it for the moment and went after Dominique again, shouting to another cadet, Bo, to get a cadre (sergeant or chaperone) while we held her off.
To my dismay, Dominique busted through the door and into the hallway. I tackled her again, taking her arm in one hand and putting my other arm across her waist. It took a lot to hold my grip, but I finally managed to shove her back, into a corner, where five other cadets in my platoon surrounded her and held her in place. Bo returned then, saying she couldn't find anyone in our building.
Dominique began to choke another cadet, and I bolted. I'd done all I could, and I knew we needed help. I ran across the courtyard to Bravo company's building, blood steadily seeping from my mouth and down my chin. When I finally got into the building, I was greeted with expressions of horror and confusion. And, even though I kept shouting "Where's a cadre," no one moved. I finally burst out with, "There's a fight in Alpha company!" That drew attention. Bravo girls rushed alongside me, trying to find their cadre. We finally found a man and two women, and got them back to the bay. Of course, by then, they had Dominique in the room, on her bed, calming down, but the damage was done. I'd been hit, which needed an explanation, and I'd gotten help. At first, the cadre thought I'd been fighting - due to my very bloody mouth - but soon learned the truth.
I spent an hour in the medical hall, getting cleaned up and answering questions. The girls were brought in and chewed out, and Dominique was removed from the bay (room). The other girls in the company were pulled out for PT (physical training) for punishment and to get answers from other witnesses.
*sniffle* I was harassed (by my own company!) about "snitching" the whole next day, and I finally went to Sergeant Christophe, my senior (highest-ranked) cadre. He then talked to those in my platoon and explained the situation (that I was being harassed for my deed and was no longer comfortable in Alpha company) and told them to basically watch out for me and that he would have expected them to do the same that I had done.
And this is funny: cadets from Bravo and Charlie applauded me for being brave enough to jump between two black girls in fight mode! XD
I was given two medals for my deed. The first one went alongside me knowing what I was doing and taking charge without trouble, and being the best platoon leader. The second one went alongside me taking care of two injured cadets in my platoon and putting myself in harm's and exhaustion's way to keep them safe and out of trouble (hint: Wednesday night). XD
But other than that, camp was pretty good. I ended up having six medals: the two leadership ones, three for sports, and one for drill team. I also got my official promotion: I'm a Captain now! Done!
To top it all off, I have over 40 bruises and 10 cuts. I have bronchitus. I haven't had a DECENT bath in six days. I've had about twelve hours of sleep in six days' time... *faints*
But I'm concerned about my boyfriend...his hand was sliced open during a training mission! *GASP*
And I will probably go to bed in an hour (it is now 6 o'clock pm) and stay in bed until after noon tomorrow...I'm THAT tired...
