The Monster

This is a poem i wrote for Adam Gontier, i recently watched 'Behind the Pain' for the first time, and this is a poem i wrote for him

Behind the pain lives an animal
He craves the magic, the good stuff
he puts on a show, so they`ll believe
That everything is okay, the moster off his back

But when he`s alone
the monster comes out of no where
Itches for the juice, so he can become stronger
Soon he`ll take over, mind and body

He shakes the cravings away, gone
But inside, in his soul, the monsters nesting
Growing, taking over his mind, body, soul
All he can think of is the next pill, line, hit

Animals multiply, cravings become hurricanes
Mind becomes numb, used to the routine
Put on a show, sing, and tell youself it`s okay
But when you`re alone, the monster comes knocking

He starts to love the monster, numb to the world
The rushes become habbit, he`s hooked, takes a line
The monster crouched in the corner, stares
Looks at the animals taking over, laughs

He sees the monster, runs, and goes to her
She see`s the monster in his eyes, knows
Animals, monster, replaces the man she knew
The song becomes noteless, no beat to sing to

She holds him untill he cries, she knows
And he understands, the monster had her too
He looks at her, the depth of her eyes
She poured the line, stared, and struck the monster

He sees the monster still, animals haunt him
He doesn`t give in, the powder never on the table
He sings, sings the song to impower him
He sings straight to the monster, tells him

So what if you can see the darkest side of me
The monster knows, he has to leave his side
He knew he had to be a man, strong, for her
He tries his best, to this day, and she knows

He sees the animal, walks by, and laughs
friends understand, they know, he played the games
So he talks to others, advises them,
Once you play with the monster, you`re his buddy for life
