The song she used to hear

A young girl sits alone, cold, stoned, never to know
Her belly getting bigger, her heart filling with more love
Even though his love is gone

A boy jogs away from a house, cold, stoned, broken
His mind a blank, his body frozen, his heart throbbing
Even though his heart is still with her

Her tears stain her shirt, stain his soul
His confusion throwing him off, confusing her more
Their hearts beat together, get so far apart

A young child is born, new to this world
Little does it know it's mom is messed up
Little does it know it's dad is missing

She sits in the baby room, baby in arms
She sings, sings to her boy, to herself
Tells him everything will be okay, eventually

Mom and dad down stairs, screaming
Claiming who's family she comes from
Which side messed her up the most

The boy sits in his room, frozen on the ground
He looks at a photo, a photo of his first love
He looks to a mirror, doesnt recognize the person

He thinks back to the night he was told,
Told his 16 year old love was to be a mother
And told the boy wouldnt belong to him, another instead

He bikes by her house, every pedal a disition
Should he go inside, stare his child in the eyes
Or walk away, let the boy be a mystery

She sits with the baby, looks to the window
Sees him outside, smiles, and looks away
Her heart tells her, to go outside, mind otherwise

Baby starts crying, so she starts to sing
Starts to sing a song she heard before
A song by a boy she loved, when she loved him too

'you are my sun on a dark night
you are my lyrics to a love song
you are my umbrella on a rainy shower
you have my heart, and you will always have it'
