Tour Diary - Week One
Adam here. So this is my first entry of my tour journal. One of many that I will post pretty much every week, so you guys, my beloved fans and admirers get an inside look into what it's like to be on the road for weeks on end in the United States of America.
So where do I begin? We've been on tour with Staind and Hurt for about a week and a half now, and it's going pretty well. The shows have been great, the crowds have been big, and my voice has held up fairly good, for the most part. It's actually a little tough being off the road for a long time, and jumping right back into touring, and performing every night. Basically you're at home, hanging with your friends, family and loved ones at home, and hours later, you're in San Antonio, Texas, sitting in a bus with ten other guys, trying to adjust to life on the road. By now, I've adjusted, and I'm feeling good.
When I was 14 years old, I had one goal in life. That was to tour the world playing my music to lots and lots of people. I'm doing it now, and I'm one lucky motherf***er! So, really, the adjusting thing is pretty easy, especially when you're living out your dream.
Anyway, our record is coming out June 13th and it's exciting. I'm really happy with One-X. It's a very personal record, and it's going to be interesting to see how many people relate to it. How many people have been through what I've been through? How many people feel the way I feel? I guess we'll see soon enough.
You know, it's a funny thing. Over and over, I've been asked the question (especially by radio station d.j's), "So, you're first record was pretty negative huh? Now that you're a big rock star and you're rich and famous, you're life's pretty much perfect isn't it? What are you going to write about now?!"
I f these people only knew half of what my life's all about, I would never be asked that question again. I think this new record, One-X, will give some insight to my life. Not only for you, my fans, but also for those know-it-all d.j's out there who think being a so-called "rock star" takes away all of life's inevitable struggles.
It's hard for me to get into my personal life on the Internet, so I'm not going to. I will tell you that the last couple years have been the most wearisome of my life. I've been put to the test, and have had so many challenges, that quite honestly, I sometimes question how I'm still here. The reason I say this, is because I want you to know, that no matter how hard your life gets, and no matter how much you feel like you don't belong on this earth, things will get better. I know how cheesy this sounds, but there's always a silver lining around every dark cloud.
So anyway, I'm in a hotel room right now, sitting at desk in front of my laptop, and I'm starting to burn out. We just had a day off in one of the most beautiful parts of the U.S. Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. A couple of the guys went Jet Skiing, myself and "Two Dogs F__king" (our production manager) went golfing at a PGA Tour Golf Course, and a couple of the guys took advantage of the coin laundry service at the hotel. Either way, it was a good day off, after a kick ass, sold out show at "Monkey Business" here In Hilton Head. It was probably the hottest show we've ever played. With no air circulating through the place, and half of the crowd smoking cigarettes, I literally almost passed out halfway through the set. Just before we played a song off the new record called "Never Too Late", I felt the darkness closing in. But I managed to shake it off and kill one of my favorite songs from "One-X".
So, I'm gonna sign off now. My eyeballs are turning into little computer screens, so I think it's a good decision.
I'm going to post journal entries about once a week, so keep checking them out. I'll try to keep you posted on how life on the road with Staind is going, and I'll definitely fill you in on what kind of crazy s*** goes down on our off days.

This might sound like something everybody else says, but you guys are such an inspiration. I am having such a hard time in my life, and reading about stuff you have said about how times get hard, it's going to get better, it just makes me feel alot better. I have had some deaths in my family recently and some of the things you have said in your songs and just stuff you write on here helps alot. So thanks for being there for your fans, and giving them advice about hard times.

I'm sorry people underestimated your life/how you feel... TT_TT I haven't any doubt that you work EXTREMELY hard, and have a tough life. You're music is awesome! And just 'cause someone is famous/talented doesn't mean their life is perfect. In fact, it's probably far from it.
I have a friend who you helped TREMENDOUSLY with your music. His parents are total B*******, always abusing him and all that. (It's REALLY bad) I actually thought he was going to kill himself, but when he listened to your music he realized other people felt like he does. It helped him realize he has more power in him self than he thought. He has the courage and strength now to face the day, and fight against his parents. It inspired him, really. I'm so happy I gave him your CD, it really saved his life! (That was serious, no joke) THANK YOU (from the bottom of my heart! ^_^)
I think it was "Riot" that really helped him. I don't know how, but the words tied in with the music sends a great message! "Just Like You" helped me the most, my mother wants me to be her spinning image.... -_-' Haha, never gonna happen. It's amazing how music could save lives... Thanks again.

i know how u feel, and i can't lie and say i've dealt wit it. But there are so many things u have to do to get over it. i try to hide it by actin happy, and it works. but i can't fool myself. the first step is to walk out into a patch of sunlight, close your eyes, and turn ur head up. it helps, it really does. try holdin ur chin up, walk around wit a smile on your face, and the radience u emit to others will always rub off on u in the end. i just read this ova and dayam! but i'm not finished yet. mediatin, going into urself, trying to find wat made u like this, doesn't help. you need somone to support you, to tell you your worth something. nothing else works. i'm not gonna lie. find that person. tell them everything. it won't make you feel better, but it'll help them, help you. don't go to your counseller, you'll feel like an idiot and chicken out. i tried, and i walked away right before i walked in. it was probally a good decision. If you listen, and listen well, shadows will begin to fade, the light will always shine for you. and if you start to feel down. step out into the light and refer to step 1.
So ha to those stupid radio hosts! Cuz if my band makes da big time, and a radio host asks me that, forget polite! I'll sock that miserable f*** in the face! To a lighter tone, you rock!

Hey, bleeding love here, your voice is the most amazing one ive ever heard, and ive heard alot, you make the best songs. they relate to me. your songs dont just have beat and guitars, they have meaning. its as if they have emotion in them, and you, or anybody, can relate to them, as long as they know what it feels like to feel those emotions. like anger, pain, isolation, and lonelyness. and your songs have those feelings in them. no other songs, that ive heard, have those feelings in them that are that strong to were you can feel the feelings as they were your own. and i think that songs should relate to you instead of sound good to you. picking the rock band you look up to is like picking your friends. they have to relate to you and in a way know how you feel.

Adam, I just wanted to say thank you for the music you write. It has helped me through my depression problem because the lyrics to your music totally describes the way I feel which makes me not so alone. I honestly think that your music has saved my life, especially the song Never Too Late. In addition, it has helped me quit my addiction to cutting. I also want to say thank you for your dedication to the fans. Thats a big part of what makes you the best f***ing band ever! Please tour in Cleveland, Ohio so that I can come to one of your concerts!
