Mide:
Old or new Three Days Grace?
I think Three Days Grace has changed a lot since they released their first album in 2003. Adams period of drug-addiction has changed his looks a lot. And he has destroyed his talking-voice because of the way he's singing. And all of the guys are rougher than before. I still like them very much and they're the best band in the world but I think it's a little sad that they have changed so much. I liked them the most by the time they recorded the video for Just Like You. And I also think that their first album was more energic than One-X.
What do you think?

yes, they did change a lot since their first album. i dont think his voice has changed tooooo much. i mean, at my meet and greet he was fine! but his voice is a bit rougher, which i really like. I think they have matured greatly! and, i like the look adam has now, instead of the mohawk, but thats just my opinion. changing or not, they still rock hard!

I like harder and more rock/metal like music, I like both just the same.

Music is emotion in search of expression
I love both their albums. I suppose I'll always like their first because it's the one I fell in love with. The second one has really good songs. I think they are much more popular and catchy and in your face. I can relate to both albums so I can't really say one is better than the other. I like all of the songs on the second, but I hate everything about you, is still the one I relate to the most, having it been the first I'd ever heard. I don't like how they changed their appearance because it's almost like they tried to fit there scene a bit more. I like their looks, I just felt that the new look they tried to make themselves look more hardcore. If they are still true to themselves then by all means they should change but if they are simply doing it for publicity then I disagree. Just keep it real and keep making good music and I'll keep listening.
the first album was a lot more angsty.......but the one-x album was a lot more personal....
i like both albums, but i connect more to one-x
TDG is still amazing no matter what they do XD

As I've seen stated before here, everyone changes. Music changes, people change. So it's only natural that One-X and their self-titled album are going to be different. Look at how many years were in between them?
As for deciding which one is better? Well...that really depends on what you're asking, I guess.
I have always enjoyed the first album a lot for driving to. "Just Like You" is one of my favorite 'driving songs'. I can always blast it from the stereo when I'm going somewhere and it picks my mood up immensely. It's great, it's catchy, and I love it.
But One-X tops my list as far as lyrics and personality go. As I've also seen said already, it has all of that raw honesty that makes music great. Not just something to sing obnoxiously loud and off-key to, but something that hits home, something that makes you think.
So in their own way, each album is fantastic, sometimes I prefer one or the other for whatever reason, but I'll always love them both.
I feel there music is still pretty much the same..but you don't want a band always sounding the same right,,but you can tell byy the catchy beats and stuff its 3dg...and i agree with there looks have changed a lot..but then you gotta think about yourself..think back to 2003 and then look at yourself now..you can't deny you as well have changed..who cares what they look like as long as they keep rocking..

I don't know if I necessarily agree that they've changed but I do agree that the lyrics are a lot better. I think the choosing of the words for the songs runs more smoothly. Someone did mention that it is probably because of Barry and I have to agree. Barry is a great song writer and I think mixing with Adam, Brad and Neil, it makes for a great combination and awesome songs. I do happen to like One-X better than the first one but that doesn't change anything for me. I think the lyrics from One-X tend to hit closer to home for me.

Ok heres what I think, [not that it matters]
Both albums were good.
The first one was... well... different. But it was a very good album, and it was great and blah blah blah....
I think that the changes that have taken place are for the better, because one-x was an album with better lyrics than the first album.
So, overall, I would say that one-x reached out to me a little more than the self-titled one. But, again, thats just my opinion.... :]
...either way, 3dg is freakin kick-ass, and very inspirational within their music, and everything they've gone through.
<3
I could bump to their first album anytime anywhere. I understand the fact that a band has to progress but i still like the aggressive in your face sound of the first album had. not to bash one x though cuz it still kills and in my opinion is a well written album.

the one and only
Verdict: Three Days Grace shalt always be the most awsome band in the history of the world ^_^
And it will never change XD

I'd Rather Feel Pain Than Nothing At All
i liked them they way they were before, but thier still awesome!
they did change alot but they are still the best band ever! i read the comment about linkin park and i agree as long as the don't do anything as stupid as what they did then every thing will be fine. (no offence to any new linkin park fans cause they have a couple good songs from that cd)

If you wanna get out alive run for your life
Yes, Adam's voice is one of the key elements that makes Three Days Grace so great. The fact is Adam's voice is perfect for the songs he sings. It's an interesting voice and is part of what makes them easy to listen to on a regular basis. For me I can never get bored of them. And I have never heard one person say anything bad about them. (maybe it's because I'm the one who normaly introduces people to them XD). But over all they are the most awsome band in the world and I could go on about that forever but I don't want to strain anyone's eyes.

I definately don't think there is a huge difference except for the growth that the bad has obviously gone through. I think that they are not so much "darker" as just the lyrics have more depth and meaning now that they are better artists. I also think his voice adds to their overall sound, I absolutely love the rough "gravol" voice.
Good point. If anything this shows that they are getting better with age and maturaty.

honestly i didnt think the new album was any rougher than the last one. if anything it was not as hard. but it was just as good. actually it was a marked improvement as far as the music writting is concerned (probobly thanks to Barry). i mean their old stuff was good, but the guitars were really simple 3-4 chord progressions for the most part, while their new stuff actually has a good bit of intricacy and lead guitar. and the lyrics are just as good.
In what way did Linkin Park sell out? Its not like they go from being an indie underground band and then dump their record company to be popular. LP has always been popular since their Hybrid Theory album. just because someone change their sound doesnt mean they are selling out. i mean seriously its just a style change. Its not did it to make more money or ger popular like all the weak sellout bands do (cough GreenDay). They changed styles because they wanted to do something different, and because they and eveyother Nu Metal band had done the whole "rap industrial metal" thing to death. I agree their first 2 albums were awesome, but i think their new one is beautiful, even if it is softer, it is way deeper and less shallow than their old stuff which was clearly targeted at irate highschooler jr highers.
Some changes are for the better. I didn't know about the voice change thing though...I gess it happens to singers. My friend's voice has gotten higher since she's trying to reach saprano. I still think Three Days Grace rocks hard. The second album was different to the first but thats what's sapose to happen. They've grow and changed but haven't sold out. Something to be happy about. Not like Linkin Park's change. They are so boring now. I personaly still can't chose which Three Days Grace song I like the most. To me that means they are still pretty good and I havn't gotten sick of them yet so they're still doing well.

I agree, Linkin Park f***ing sold out like no other, that was the most disappointing CD in a long time, i was so f***ing pissed when I listened to that CD.

I swear I never meant to let it die
Nothing will ever be as drastic as Linkin Park's change.
I think his voice changed from the smoking, the drugs he USE to do, and from singing so much. there look changed okay so what? They said that one-x was a more personal album so its going to be different if its more about you sorta do u get it?Bands are going to changed but no matter what loyal fans will stick with that band threw all the changes.

We are the ones...we get knocked down..we get back up..we stand above the crowd..we are the one
yeah, they did. but so does every band! look at papa roach! the way he's singing? dude, he sings almost every night, for an hour and a half, trust me, you're voice would be rough too after a couple months of touring. the drug addiction didn't change his looks, he decided to try something new, big deal. rougher than before? they got older! they're in their late 20's now, when they put out their first album they where like 24! it's not sad that they've changed, they've progressed musically, and emotionally. it's natural for people to change, nobody stays the same. energy level wise, both cd's rock. i think you need to start digging deeper, look past the surface, their music has gotten WAYYYY better.
