My friend is in ICU in critical condition...
Yesterday, March 6th, at about 5 PM, my friend Justin and his friend Anthony were riding this little scooter thing at an old car wash that is right next to the road. They were crossing the road and doing tricks and stuff, and Justin asked Anthony, "Is there anything coming?" when he was about to cross. Anthony said, "Yeah, there's a truck." Justin said, "Do you think I can make it?" Anthony said, "Go for it, man." Justin didn't make it. The truck hit him, throwing him sixteen feet in the air and into a church parking lot across the road. I don't know if he was wearing a helmet or not, but it hit him mainly in the head. There was a dent left in the truck from him. The man that hit him said he was bleeding out of his ears and mouth, and could hardly breathe. They called a helicopter to fly him to the hospital, but they didn't think he was going to live, so they canceled it. Then the ambulance that was driving him didn't turn on their siren until they were a mile down the road b/c they thought he was dead. He's in ICU right now and he's in critical condition. They're giving him 10% chance to live. He has a punctured lung, swollen brain and he's in a coma.
Anthony tried to kill himself. I don't know how, but he did it b/c he blames himself for telling Justin to go for it. I don't know if I would want to live either after watching that happen to my best friend.
I know you guys don't know him and you don't really know me, but I'm asking you to please pray for him. He needs all the prayers he can get. He's in really bad shape, and it's not likely he'll ever wake up. I'm not even really close to him, but I have talked to him a lot in one class I have with him, so this has hit me really hard. You just don't expect something like this to happen to anyone you know. I can't imagine what it would be like if it was my best friend that had gotten hit.
But anyway, please pray for him and pray for me too, and all his friends. We're having a really hard time b/c the middle school kids are running around and telling people he died at 6:30 this morning, and now we have to go behind them and clean up the mess.

Wow, I haven't updated you guys on Justin in a loooong time!
He's out of the hospital, as of about 3 weeks ago. He's practically normal again, except for that he now has a limp and he has trouble breathing. Also they've got him on a lot of pain medicine, so he's a little loopy lol.
He won't come back to school until the beginning of next year, of course, but he did come in during the lunches one day to see everyone. He looks great for someone who has went through so much.
Something that made me extremely angry: as he was walking outside, someone tried to throw a football at him 3 or 4 times! Childish middle schoolers!! Grrr....

yeah, but the problem is they're not letting anyone in to see him... i guess i'll have to tell him when he gets back to school b/c i can't send a message to him! but i'll def. tell him!

Just found out: He's much better, not out of coma yet, but little if no brain damage. I think he's going to be almost a normal person again soon. He's recovering very quickly.

Really, I don't think he would be doing so good if it weren't for you guys, b/c most of the people around here are saying he deserved it. I think it's pathetic. He was kind of a "bad boy" and everyone says this should teach him a lesson. Yes, that's true, but it shouldn't have to be something like that, and no one should ever wish something like this on anyone.

Well, Justin is doing a lot better. He's still in a coma, but he's responding to pain very well. When he's pinched, he scrunches his face up! It's so good, b/c it could mean that he won't have extensive brain damage. They're going to let him come out of his coma and then they'll do a test to see how much damage it did. I'm not really sure when that'll be, but I think he's pretty much in very good shape for the beating he took. I think he's going to be okay.
Anthony just attempted suicide, as far as I know. He hasn't been to school since the accident. I really hope he hasn't done something stupid.

omg. i'm so sorry....for everyone affected by this. reading this i almost started to cry. ur right no one would ever think this would happen to them or someone that they love. i hope Justin makes it. i really really do. i also feel for anthony. tell him it's not his fault. it was an accident. justin didn't have to listen to him. its just...not his fault. things happen. things that we can't control. i hope he knows that.
