Isn't It Weird How Some Fans Claim To Personally Know Adam, Neil, Brad, And Barry?

Don't you wonder how it is that some people "as fans" of Three Days Grace can start to assume they "personally" know Adam, Neil, Brad, and Barry?

It can even get to the point where certain people become stalkers of the band. I decided to blog about this topic because it always comes up around family, friends, co-workers...You name it.

I've come up with an explanation of my own. First off, since TDG is in the public eye their personal lives are up for grabs. It's a guarantee that every intimate detail will be taped or photographed by someone. This unfortunate "pain" comes with being a "rockstar".

Then, there's all the magazine articles and interviews that have been done on the band. In the midst of the vast amount of information available at our fingertips about Adam, Neil, Brad, and Barry it's easy to get lost in a surreal world.

Fans begin to assume they know everything about the guys and could possibly be "best friends" with them. Although, this could be plausible the truth hurts; and, the truth may be that these fans discover the guys have nothing in common with them, (outside the music).

It's dangerous to make conclusions about someone based on everything that is observed on the outside. There could be a lot hidden on the inside that only those closest to a rock band would witness.

There are people who have no one to relate to in their realm but TDG music. I completely understand that because I live in my music. It's theraputic and gets me through the day without losing my mind.

However, there's a fine line we all walk and it's easy to get tripped up. When we begin to idolize the band and think no one else understands, then we're in trouble. We start to live out a false reality when we're consumed by the lives of TDG and not our own... When we'd rather live out the fantasy created in our minds about the band rather than fixing our own broken lives.

I do agree that we all "as fans" know Adam, Neil, Brad, and Barry to an extent. But that's where it ends. They can choose to reveal hidden parts of themselves to the public. But even then: unless we can touch, see, feel, and smell them on a day to day basis no one can honestly say "I know TDG inside and out".

There's my explanation. Now, what's yours?
