I'm a fan (and you should be too) because...
Well, because I've almost been around from the start. Kinda. I first heard Three Days Grace when I started at high school. The second day of it actually, and the local radio station, The Zone, was playing "Just like You." So there's some emotion attached to it from the perspective of a new face in a new school, somewhat alone yet having a bunch of friends. Then, there's the other face of it, that I was/have been going through some rough spots for the last couple years, and..3DG has been that best friend that's giving you a hug, letting you cry, scream, or run yourself out. The whole band has a vibe that touches every single one of us, no matter how many might say "Oh 3DG is cheesy, its not even music." It is. They just can't accept it.
But for those first couple months in high school, I had my CD player with the new CD, first albumn, playing in my art class as I learned to paint, shade, and figure out how to get things on paper. I did a lyric painting composed of Are You Ready, Let You Down, and I hate Everything About You, and its got to be one of my favourite pieces of art.
But I digress. Why again am I fan?
Because I can sing the songs. I can feel the songs. Nevermind just listening, I drum my fingers to the beat, trying to hit the pitches with my own voice(being a girl, its awesome that Adam doesn't sing in the lower registers!!), and wishing that violins could harmonize with it. Well, they can. I just haven't figured out how.
My first concert. My first ROCK concert was Three Days Grace, with Mobile, Idle Sons, and Theory Of A Deadman. What an awesome way to loose...the concert virginity? I dunno, but it was awesome. We had a wicked snowstorm(for Victoria, it was one.) and as I went down to the Save on Foods Memorial with a couple friends, we all had our fingers crossed that it wasn't cancelled. 23 cars were in ditches and on the side of the highway, so we were a little curious as to how many would make it if the concert did go. Three Days Grace, you guys laughed on the Radio, as what was a little bit of snow here compared to the stuff you got in Ontario? So we had a great time. 3DG isn't a stodgy, snobby band that is only there to make music and money. They were there for us, for them, for the music, and to have a great time! They had the crowd going, interacting with us with spotlights, doing encores, and had us begging for more. They were everything I wanted in a first concert and more.
I saw them again, their first concert for the Life Starts Now Albumn. A celebration for me of my first concert, seeing my favourite band, with an awesome friend of mine, and having a great time.
Really, this band is full of surprises, leaves nothing for want, and really seems like it gives back to its roots. They stay PEOPLE, not celebrities, unknown with faces and names. Every song has some part of their soul in it, and to be able to let everyone see that, and feel it in their own, has to be a bit of bravery.
I love them for it. Seriously, 3dg music is my best friend, my boyfriend, my security blanket. PS you never saw that! They just make it so easy to treasure the good moments, to not let the bad things get you, and to fight back when you can. And always be able to get back up again.
Re: Adam Gontier
Thank you!
I'm working on another one of Brad. Maybe have it up soon.
