Where do I even start. Well, the first time I heard a 3DG song was when I was up one night and saw the video for Just Like You on MTV2. I thought the song was cool but I heard other people mention I Hate Everything About You as a better song. SO I downloaded the song was amazed as the guitar riff and the catchy chorus and all around presentation of the song. So I asked a friend of mine if he had the album and I borrowed it from him. The first thing I remember being stuck in my head was how I was so into the riff on Take Me Under during the bridge. The part where Adam goes "And I've been waiting so long!". That was one of the most amazing parts I've ever heard in a song.
So as I got more and more into the cd, I found myself more and more into the band and realized that their lyrics fit my life. I was going through alot and listening to the debut album really helped.
Then, last year, when One X was released, I realized how easy it is for 3DG to connect to their fans because through their lyrics, they show they've been in situations much like us. Whether it's the feeling of suicide and wanting help or losing a loved one or wanting to break s*** or wanting that love one to get the hell out. It all seems to connect to a feeling you may have or a thought in your head. On the day the album was released, I had broke up with my girlfriend of 5 months because I had heard that she was cheating on me. It was a long distance relationship and I hadn't heard from her in weeks so I assumed it was true. Once I talked to her, she didn't really deny it but she said she didn't. I was going to visit her the next day but decided not to. The entire trip however, I had wanted to do something to harm myself. I even almost jumped a bridge into shallow water. But then I thought about the lyrics to Never Too Late and the lyrics to Over And Over. After listening to both a few times each, I had felt better. Once I returned, I talked to her and we had gotten back together.
I've seen the band 3 times in the last year and each time is always better. I appreciate the band for being who they are and showing fans like myself that there is a way out and it's not in a bad way or a horrifying way, but in a way that we can all help each other and believe in ourselves that we will make it through.
That is why I am a Three Days Grace fan.
