HOME-debate

So, I was discussing Three Days Grace's HOME song with a friend and we saw it from two points of view. I personally saw it as a direct reflection on the parents and an abusive childhood. The Lady in the music video makes it seem like it's about a girlfriend/wife figure who was on crack and whacked out. I will always see it as a reflection of a poor childhood. What do ya'll think?

I'm not sure it will be clear... my poor english!
But for me... it's about, when you are a teenager and you have enought of your parents... you want to be free... treat like an adult.... but you are too young for working... to win money (enought money)...
to have your own house... something like this.
it's clear?

i agree with feithidz. you know i guess she pretty much explains the definition

I agree with matchmaker on this one.

For me, this song is a relaxing way)))) sometimes I want to run away from home. there are times when parents irritate you to such an extent that it seems no other option but to flee. but when I turn on "Home" I got cold and I understand that if I go, I did not achieve this. this song helps calm in such situations.

I agree with matchmaker about the meaning

while you're stuck at home with nothing to do" Sometimes he says that before playing. I don't think it's about serious abuse, I think it's just one of those days you have when you're 14 where you just feel like you're treated like s*** and want to run away.

Wow feithidz, I totally agree with ya there. 100%. I have been doing so everytime I get in my car and get outta work. Not that I'm angry or unhappy...it just feels good to listen to it.

Ahh well I think I thought basically the same thing as you about the home video. Haven't watched it in a while but yeah.
For me home has always just been one of those songs that you put on your headphones, put on repeat, and shut everyone out for the rest of the day. Whenever I'm having a bad day it's always the first song I listen to.
Not what it's about, but it really is a good song for just getting out your anger.

Oh haha yeah...I did leave it pretty open didn't I. Sticking out tongue

Sorry, seemed like you were asking what the band themselves wrote the song about, not what we interpreted it as.
Also wasn't sure if he said that on the DVD, he doesn't always say it at shows.

Yes, I know what he says during concerts....I have seen them before and own the Detroit concert DVD as well. I just wanted to know how YOU interpreted it the first time you heard it/saw the video. Smiling

i agree with feithidz and dont pay attention to videos cause some times it has nothin to do with the song

Based on Adam's intros at shows, I think it's basically "being stuck at home with nothing to do, and being treated like s*** while you're stuck at home with nothing to do" Sometimes he says that before playing. I don't think it's about serious abuse, I think it's just one of those days you have when you're 14 where you just feel like you're treated like s*** and want to run away.

I agree with you. I think it's about a poor childhood
